The usual dose to treat infections in adults: 500-1000 mg every 8-12 hours for 3-10 days

Side effects: Any medication may cause adverseeffects in addition to its desired therapeutic effects. Although not everybody shows all the side effects, consult your doctor or pharmacist if you observe any of the following ones:
Mild-to-severe cutaneous side effects, loss of appetite, gastrointestinal side-effects (such as diarrhea, nausea and vomiting), vertigo, headaches,and a metallic taste in the mouth
Severe gastrointestinal side effects may emerge when taking metronidazole together with alcohol or alcohol-containing products. Therefore, do not use such products when taking metronidazole and up to three days after stopping this medication.
Contraindications: Do not take metronidazole in the first trimester or during lactation, and if you are allergic to it.
