The common doses in adults with the Zollinger-Ellison syndrome
Starting with 20 mg every 6 hours
Maximum dose: 160 mg every 6 hours

Side-effects: Any medication may cause adverseeffects in addition to its desired therapeutic effects, although not everybody shows all the side effects. Evidence suggests that famotidine is well tolerated and has few side effects.
The most common side effects are headaches, confusion, constipation, or diarrhea.
The uptake of antifungals (itraconazole, ketoconazole, etc.) is reduced when simultaneously taken with famotidine, so take ketoconazole at least 2 hours before famotidine.
Contraindications:
Do not take this medication if you are allergic to famotidine or any of its ingredients.
Do not take famotidine if you have a history of allergy to any drug of this class (ranitidine, cimetidine, etc.).
This medication is not recommended in pregnancy. It can be usedduring pregnancy only at the doctor’s discretion and if its benefits outweigh its possible adverse effects.
This medication is not recommended during lactation. Famotidine is secreted in milk. Therefore, it may harm the infant and disrupt acid secretion in its digestive system. If you have to consume famotidine, stop lactating when taking this medication.
