Losartan 50 mg

Drug class: Blood pressure lowering/angiotensin II receptor blocker
Dosage form: Tablet
Ingredients:  Each coated tablet contains 25 or 50 mg losartan potassium.
Mechanism of action: Losartan blocks the vasoconstrictor and aldosterone-secreting effects of angiotensin II by selectively inhibiting the binding of angiotensin II to  type 1 ( AT1) receptors.

Indications:
Hypertension
Hypertensive patients with left ventricular hypertrophy
Nephropathy in patients with type 2 diabetes
Dosage and administration: Doctors decide the dosage to be taken, but the common doses are as follows:
Hypertension:
The dose starts at 50 mg/day and may increase to 100 mg/day.
The dose may start at 25 mg/day in patients who take diuretics.
Hypertensive patients with left ventricular hypertrophy:
The dose starts at 50 mg/day and may increase to 100 mg/day.
Nephropathy in patients with type 2 diabetes
The dose starts at 50 mg/day and may increase to 100 mg/day.
Side effects: Any medication may cause adverseeffects in addition to its desired therapeutic effects. Although not everybody develops all the side effects, consult your doctor if you show any of the following ones.
Visit your doctor immediately if you feel severe and sudden muscle pain and weakness, especially if they are accompanied by fever, fatigue, and dark urine.
Be sure to visit your doctor in case of allergic reactions such as swelling in the face, tongue, and throat.
Visit your doctor if you have any of the following symptoms:
Blurred vision, difficult breathing, dizziness, faintness, lightheadedness, nausea and vomiting, numbness or tingling in the hands, feet or lips, stomach pain
Contraindications:
Allergic reactions to losartan
Patients with type 2 diabetes should not take losartan and aliskiren simultaneously.
Warning: Before starting losartan, make sure you are not pregnant and use reliable contraceptive methods when taking the medication. In case of being suddenly informed that you are pregnant, stop taking the medication and visit your doctor.
